Ordained ministers, clerics and officiants intending to perform marriage ceremonies in any of the five boroughs of New York City (Brooklyn, The Bronx, Manhattan, Queens or Staten Island) are required to register with the city’s Marriage Bureau in Manhattan before performing the ceremony.
Special forms and documents are required by the Marriage Bureau in order for your ordination to be valid for ceremonies conducted in New York City.
You must already be ordained by us to obtain the New York City Marriage Bureau endorsement.
The endorsement is available to all ordained FNC Officiants in current good standing, whether or not you reside in the State of New York.
The couple does not have to obtain their marriage license in New York City – a marriage license obtained anywhere in New York State can be used in New York City.
Out-of-state marriage licenses cannot be used anywhere in New York State, including New York City.
(For example, a New Jersey or Connecticut marriage license cannot be used for a ceremony that takes place anywhere in the State of New York.)
Additional registration is not required for ceremonies performed elsewhere in New York State.
